Educational Qualification Criteria (as of 01.08.2024)

  1. Basic Requirement:
    • Possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
  2. Eligibility for Candidates Appearing for Bachelor’s Degree:
    • Candidates who have appeared in their Bachelor’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible to apply.
    • Essential qualification must be obtained on or before the cutoff date (01.08.2024).
  3. Recognition of Degrees/Diplomas/Certificates through Open and Distance Learning:
    • Degrees awarded through Open and Distance Learning by Universities established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature are recognized.
    • Institutions Deemed to be Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, and Institutions of National Importance declared under an Act of Parliament are also recognized.
    • Approval by the Distance Education Bureau, University Grants Commission is mandatory for acceptance.
    • Degrees not recognized for the relevant period when acquired will not be accepted for employment purposes.
  4. Exclusion of Specific Programs from Open and Distance Learning:
    • Programs in engineering, medicine, dental, nursing, pharmacy, architecture, physiotherapy, etc., are not permitted under Open and Distance Learning mode.
    • B. Tech. Degree/Diploma in Engineering awarded by Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) to students enrolled up to the academic year 2009-10 is considered valid where applicable.
  5. Candidates Yet to Acquire Educational Qualification:
    • Candidates who have not obtained the educational qualification as of the application date but will acquire it by 01.08.2024 are eligible.
    • Documentary evidence from the Board/University supporting the acquisition of qualification must be provided.

Mode of Selection

Candidates registering for the SSC CPO exam by the closing date will undergo a meticulous review. Upon provisional acceptance, they’ll receive Roll numbers and Admission Certificates for the Computer-Based Examination (Paper-I). The minimum qualifying marks for Paper-I and Paper-II are UR: 30%, OBC/EWS: 25%, and other categories: 20%. Successful Paper-I performers, considering bonus marks for NCC certificate holders, proceed to the PST/PET stage, which is mandatory but qualifying. Ex-Servicemen are exempt from PET. Only PST/PET qualifiers advance to Paper-II, followed by a Medical Examination. Final selection depends on Paper-I and Paper-II performance, NCC bonus marks, and candidate preferences.
